Destination Dubai

Dubai is one of the seven states making up the United Arab Emirates and it is located in the Middle East at the crossroads of Asia and Europe.

Dubai is a city of striking contrasts; it is an exciting destination both for travelers seeking thrills and adventure and for expatriates seeking a healthy employment climate and a tax free lifestyle.

Those expatriates planning on moving to the UAE or who are seeking the latest job opportunities in Dubai are certainly not alone. The population of Dubai is one of the fastest growing in the world and over the past twenty five years it has quadrupled.

Employment prospects in the city rise annually by an average of 8.3% and the increasing availability of quality jobs has attracted record numbers of expatriates to the region. The appeal of Dubai lies in the fact that it is a liberal and moderate emirate and it has attracted major players from every single significant business sector of note because of the tax free trade zones Dubai is famous for. These industry giants from the media, IT, engineering and financial sectors for example can recruit internationally and many offer their staff a tax free salary with attractive relocation benefits on top meaning they attract the best, most dynamic employees from around the world.

The expatriate population in the entire UAE makes up 91.5% of the working population so you can see how popular a destination Dubai is with international executives from around the world. To work in Dubai it is necessary to obtain an employment visa, if you secure a job offer before you fly out your employer will sponsor your visa for you. Alternatively you can travel to the country on a 30 day temporary visa, seek work and as soon as you secure a job offer you can apply for your employment visa.

In terms of those who holiday in Dubai they are divided into a number of categories - you have shopoholics who come for the tax free prices on luxury goods and jewellery, you have those who want an adventure in and around the ancient and fascinating heart of Dubai, you have families keen to hit the theme parks and adventure centres and those who come for the sporting highlights of Dubai such as the world class golf, polo, diving and desert safaris.

Visitors to the city of Dubai require a visa unless they herald from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman or Saudi Arabia. Those visitors who are staying in one of the amazing and luxurious hotels Dubai is famous for will be provided with a visa by the hotel for the duration of their stay. The process to obtain a visa is very simple, in fact most travel agents or hotels will fill in the necessary paper work for you and you can either apply for a 14 day 'transit visa' or a 30 day 'visit visa' and then enter the country and be free to enjoy your time exploring this dynamic and breathtaking city of contrasts.

Hairloss Treatments in the Twenty-First Century

Hairloss treatments in the 21st century have improved by leaps and bounds, and hair loss patients have a bevy of choices from the numerous government approved and proven effective treatments. But before any treatment can be chosen, it is first necessary to know everything about hair loss.

The medical term for hair loss is alopecia, this is often caused by genes, hormones and stress. In men, such hormones as androgens and testosterones can cause hair follicles to regress and eventually die leading to alopecia. Apart from stress, a traumatic experience or a medical condition can cause baldness. The most effective hairloss treatments that are currently offered are finasteride and dutasteride. The topical medicine minoxidil, whose most popular brand is Rogaine, is likewise effective to a certain extent and can also be used as a preventive treatment. Rogaine and other like brands can stop of even reverse baldness in most people.

Hair transplantation is another treatment option. When performed properly, implants are undetectable. There is also the hair replacement system, more popularly know as hair system, which is the treatment of choice for people suffering from extensive baldness. Hair systems have improved during the last few years and have become more refined. People who want to restore a full-looking head of hair may find this treatment highly appropriate.

People who do not wish to undergo invasive procedures have the option of using topical treatments including applications and sprays. These topical treatments have surprisingly proven to be highly effective in achieving a head full of hair. In the area of research and development, very promising technologies are emerging and treatments being made available have become highly sophisticated and effective.

Each hair loss solution has its own advantages and limitations. People suffering from baldness should empower themselves with the tools and resources available to them to better understand the new emerging treatments. They should take their time and carefully evaluate all options in the market today. Treatments are usually available in department stores, pharmacies and over the Internet. One should not be afraid of experimenting to determine the treatment that works best. Compare notes with other hair loss sufferers and join online discussion groups. Questions posted on online discussion forums will usually reveal several helpful advice.

To be on the safe side, one should have a consultation with a medical professional regarding the different hairloss treatments. People should never have to suffer the shame and indignity of alopecia when science has developed several treatment options that cater to every individual seeking solutions.

An Introduction to Text Messaging

Why Text?

Text messaging is a quick way to stay in touch with people for personal or business purposes. With text messaging, you can chat with a partner by typing on the keyboard and reading what they write to you on the screen. Many text messaging products can work with cell phone text messaging (aka SMS or Short Messaging Service) so you can chat with people who aren't in front of their computer. So, why not just pick up the phone and talk?

It's faster than e-mail and phone calls. And you don't have to pay anything to text. If you need to chat with someone briefly or ask a quick question, it's much less intrusive than calling someone. As with most developing technologies, several types of text messaging are available and each one is incompatible with the others. But don't let that keep you from trying it out. The main text messaging products are ICQ (www.icq.com), MSN Messenger (www.msn.com), AIM (www.aim.com), and Yahoo Messenger (www.yahoo.com).

btw (By the Way...)

Each one is free and simple to download, install, and sign up. You can locate your "buddies" by searching in an online directory by their screen name, e-mail address, name, or telephone number. Once you get the hang of it, text messaging can be extremely addictive. As you continue to use text messaging, you will find yourself learning to abbreviate words and sentences. When you leave an online chat, you might say BRB (Be Right Back), I'm afk (away from the keyboard), or TTYL (Talk to You Later). See glossary below.

Some text messaging products are beginning to offer voice and video chat. The future of digital communication is an integrated product, since voice, video, interactive text messaging, and e-mail are all effective means of communication. In the future, you will be able to switch between text, voice, and video with ease. Until then, we will continue to use different methods for different communication needs :-(

The Benefits of Ergonomic Office Chairs

Ergonomic office chairs are extremely popular in today's office environment. Many employees find that they are sitting for more than eight hours per day while at work. It is important that ergonomic office chairs be used to reduce shoulder, back, and neck strain. While ergonomic office chairs may cost more than a standard office chair, the initial cost is a wise investment and worthwhile in increasing productivity and preventing serious injury.

There are many important factors to consider when selecting proper ergonomic office chairs. Some of the features that should be looked for are an adjustable seat, proper lumbar support, a backrest, adequate seat width and depth, appropriate arm rests, and the ability to swivel. It is important to read the instruction manual thoroughly and ensure that all of the adjustment mechanisms are in proper working order. If a chair is found to be defective, in any way, it should be returned.

While selecting ergonomic office chairs it is important to remember that there is no "best" fit for every body type. What suits one individual may not be an ideal choice for another. If possible, it is a good idea to try out an ergonomic office chair prior to making a purchase. If it is not possible to test the chair prior to purchasing, be sure that you are able to receive a refund if the chair turns out to be less than ideal.

It is important to understand proper posture and ergonomics while at work or at a home office before using an ergonomic office chair. There is quite a bit of educational information on this subject online. One of the basics of proper office ergonomics is ensuring that a chair's seat height allows the user's feet to remain flat on the floor. It is also essential that a chair offer proper lumbar support, which fits the inward curve of the lower back. Additionally, a chair must have a seat that is comfortable after sitting in it for a long period of time, and armrests that allow the shoulders to remain in a relaxed position.

There are many new and emerging alternatives available to the traditional ergonomic office chair. Several types of chairs place the user in an atypical position. They may take some getting used to over time, but they are a good alternative for someone who experiences discomfort or chronic back pain.

Free From Debt, Free At Last!

If you've been battling debt for years and have finally paid it off, you must feel as if a giant weight had been lifted from your shoulders. If you're tempted to dance around the room shouting, "free at last, free at last," I certainly wouldn't fault you. Being seriously in debt can have a very negative impact on your life and getting completely out of debt can feel like there's a new day dawning.

$120,000 in debt

I recently read the story of a couple that had managed to get $120,000 in debt. They hadn't done anything extravagant either. There were no trips to Paris, no luxury automobiles, and no McMansion. The way they put it was that they had gotten into debt the boring way - one credit card charge at a time. There was a happy ending to the story as they paid off every cent they owed though it took them five years. The not so happy part is in they both had to work second jobs in order to pay off their debts - and they were in their late 50s. Can you imagine how happy they were and how free they felt when they paid off that last credit card?

High marks for their ethics

You have to give this couple very high marks for their ethics. They could have filed for bankruptcy and discharged probably all of that $120,000 in debts in just three to six months. Instead, they decided to do the right thing, which was to pay off everything they owed even if it did require a lot of sacrifice and extra work on their part. Spoiler alert - they did this with the help of consumer credit counseling.

Consumer credit counseling

Consumer credit counseling can be a good way to get your debts under control and to eventually pay them off as did the couple in this story.

If you're not familiar with credit counseling it's where you go to a consumer credit counseling agency - either in person or online. You are assigned a credit counselor who will help you develop a budget and create a debt management plan for paying off your debts. When all your creditors sign off on your debt management plan, you will longer be required to pay them. The credit counseling agency will pay them for you while you then send it a check every month until you complete your plan.

The pros and cons of credit counseling

If the idea of using credit counseling to pay off your debt appeals to you, it's important that you know both the pros and cons.

The pros are that you get your creditors off your back, you get a monthly payment that should be less than the sum of the payments you've been making and you'll have more time to pay back what you owe. In fact, the typical credit counseling payment plan takes five years. And the credit counseling agency is usually able to negotiate down your interest rates so that you actually pay back less money.

The cons

However, there are also cons. You will have to surrender all your credit cards and not take on any new revolving debt during the five years it will take you to complete your plan. If you fail to make any of your payments, your plan might be revoked and you could end up in a real mess of trouble. And the accounts included in your debt management plan will usually be written up on your credit report as "not being paid as agreed," which could have a negative effect on both your credit and credit score.

You, too, could be free at last

If you want to do right by your creditors, credit counseling could be a good answer. It's not a quick or easy way to get out of debt but if you're willing to put in the work and spend the time, it could eventually have you, too, shouting "free at last."

Motivation: The Power of Asking

Very shortly, in this paragraph, I'm going to share with you how to get just about anything you want. I usually try to keep things very simple and useable.

However, this is a very complex and sophisticated psychological principle, so I want you to be well prepared for what I'm about to say.

Take a deep breath. Are you ready?

OK. Here's the basic principle for how to get just about anything you want in life -

ASK!

"Oh man, c'mon! It can't be that easy, can it?"

Oh yes it can!

You just have to know how to ask.

Here's a suggestion. Go get the book, "The Aladdin Factor", by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, the authors of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series. It's a great little how to book, all about the power and strength of asking.

To be able to access the power and strength of asking, we need to be able to do at least two things;

1) Eliminate any barriers to asking, and

2) Learn how to ask.

Barriers to Asking

Knowledge of asking - The Eagles once sang, "So many times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we have the key." The first barrier to eliminate is simply ignorance about asking. This is one of those times where knowledge is power.

Permission to ask - Too many times we have this belief that it shows weakness to ask questions or to ask for something we want. For some reason, men seem to be genetically programmed to not be able to ask for help. Especially if it has to do with asking for directions. Here's a quick joke - "Why does it take a million sperm cells to fertilize one egg? Because the stubborn little guys won't stop and ask for directions!"

How to Ask

Ask for what you want, not for what you don't want - Now that sounds awfully obvious, but stop and think about it for a minute. If you are asking your spouse to stop yelling at you, your focus (and their's) is still on yelling. Asking to be spoken to in a more respectful, caring manner is not only asking for what you want, it's offering a few suggestions as well.

Ask clearly - In order to ask clearly, you have to first be clear on what you want. One way to do this is to get a clear picture in your mind of what you want. A fun and easy way to do this is to create a movie in your imagination of exactly what it is you want. Add as much detail as you can. Asking clearly allows you to.......

Ask specifically - If what you want is more money, it's fairly easy to get a clear picture of more money. But how much? I can hand you a dollar bill and you've got more money than before. I don't believe that's what you meant by more money, however.

Ask the right person - In a recent seminar on the BRAAVO Approach, a woman asked me an excellent question - "If I know what I want, but don't know what actions to take, what do I do?"

Great question.

The good news is you don't have to re-invent the wheel. Find someone who is doing or has done what you want to do, and then ask them a few questions, such as -

How do I get from where I am to where you are? What are three things I must do? What I three things must I avoid?

So here are some questions for your consideration -

If you could ask for anything you wanted, what would it be? Think in terms of relationships, career, financial, etc. What's stops you from asking for what you want? Who do you know that asks well? What could you learn from them? What have you not asked for in the past that you now regret? How might your life be different if you had asked?

Here's one more suggestion, and then I'll wrap this up. Knowing what you now know, what would you like to ask for in your life? Take a moment to reflect and get specific about what you might want. Now, ask for something even bigger and greater than that.
